Egypt’s Pyramids FC has received high praise from the United Nations for its recent endeavours in support of refugees and its significant contributions to the global organization’s mission of aiding displaced individuals worldwide.
CEO Mamdouh Eid forged a partnership with the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) that included the club’s active participation in the “Not Just a Refugee” initiative. This admirable initiative included a variety of humanitarian activities, such as Pyramids FC hosting a friendly match and engaging in meaningful interactions with refugees from Syria, Eritrea, Yemen, Somalia, and Ethiopia.
The friendly match was held at the Air Defence Stadium, just before the club’s trip to Morocco to face Raja Casablanca in the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals.
This match wasn’t just about goals and competition; it was a powerful demonstration of the club’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility. Notably, Pyramids FC players Ahmed Fathi and Omar Gaber also partook in a charity match held at the club’s stadium as part of these noble efforts.
The refugees were delighted to be present at one of Egypt’s and Africa’s most important clubs in recent years. They thanked the Egyptian government and people for their hospitality.
