Ahmed Fathy is considered one of the most important stars in the history of Egyptian football, both with the national team and the clubs he has played for.Fathy began his football career in the youth ranks of Benha Club before joining Ismaily SC in 2000. He played with Ismaily for about 7 years before venturing into professional football abroad, first with Sheffield United in England and then returning to Egypt to play for Al Ahly in the 2007-2008 season.He also had loan spells at Kazma in Kuwait for the 2007-2008 season, Hull City in the 2012-2013 season, and Umm Salal in Qatar for the 2014-2015 season. He eventually settled at Pyramids FC in 2020.Fathi has represented the Egyptian national team in over 100 international matches and has scored 3 goals. One of his most important goals came in the semi-final match against Côte d’Ivoire in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.He has won three Africa Cup of Nations titles from 2006 to 2010, in addition to the gold medal at the 2007 Arab Games and the African Youth Championship in 2003. He has also participated in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the London Olympics, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
