In 2018, Ahmed El-Shenawy joined Pyramids FC after playing for Zamalek. His father, Nasser El-Shenawy, was a goalkeeper for Al-Masry.El-Shenawy played for the Egyptian youth national team in the 2011 African Youth Championship held in South Africa where he won the Best Goalkeeper award and the Fair Play Award. He was also chosen for the Best XI in the 2011 African U-23 Championship held in Morocco.El-Shenawy participated in the Egyptian Olympic team in the 2012 London Olympics. His debut for the senior Egyptian national team was on October 8, 2011, in a match against Niger.
